It sure feels like summer is here and there are a ton of fun events in the Danbury CT area!  At Clancy we know families moving this time of year have a lot on their minds with packing so here are some fun ways to take a well-deserved break over the weekend and enjoy.

Saturday, May 30, 2015 — 19th Annual Teddy Bear Family Craft Festival at the Town Green  [Where: Town Green, New Milford CT 06776]

For the Teddy Bear fans out there this is your event!  There will be games, a teddy bear hospital (including check ups and surgery), teddy bear adoption center, and raffles.  Dozens of booths expected to be selling all kinds of crafts and about ten selling food so you won’t go hungry.

Now through June 7, 2015 — The Annual Danbury City Fair is back!
[Where: Danbury Mall  7 Backus Ave. Danbury CT 06810]

There is no cost to attend the fair and free parking at the mall, however you may want to bring cash for fair-food favorites such as cotton candy, funnel cakes, drinks and some rides.

June 12th, 13th and 14th, 2015 — Annual Greek Festival (The Greek Experience)
[Where: the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church,  30 Clapboard Ridge Road (Route 39), Danbury CT 06811]

danbury greek festivalDanbury’s Annual Greek Festival, “The Greek Experience”, featuring traditional Greek food and pastries, Greek dancing, raffles, games, shopping boutiques, live band /entertainment (evenings only) and other activities on June 12th, 13th and 14th, 2015.  Fun for the Whole Family!

Friday (5pm to 11pm)
Saturday (12 noon to 11pm)
Sunday (12 noon to 9pm)

The festival is held on the church grounds with plenty of parking available at nearby Danbury High School; regular shuttle bus service is provided.   Take i-84 To Exit 5 & follow signs.  Parking, shuttle bus rides and admission to the festival to watch the shows are free.  Greek foods and drinks are available for purchase.

July 2nd through August 4, 2015 — The SummerStage is back at Danbury Fair with Fireworks!

After the Fair has moved along, the SummerStage takes it’s place in the Danbury Fair Mall’s parking lot featuring the area’s best music concerts and entertainment.  Tip from a guest last year: great views of fireworks from the Brio / Cheesecake Factory side of the mall parking lot facing the airport.

 

Thursday July 2nd — Summer Kick-off Event
[Where: Danbury Mall, 7 Backus Ave. Danbury CT 06810]

Fireworks at dusk, Two concerts: Fast Ricky (6-8pm) & The Wild Ones (8-10pm).  Durant’s will be bringing inflatables for the kids to enjoy.  Food and beer tent by The Cookhouse.

7/8 :  Big Hix – America’s hottest country music tribute band
7/15: New York City Swing- Dynamic Band That Will Have You Dancing the Night Away

7/29:  The Zoo- Plays everyone favorites hits! Winner’s of MTV’s Ultimate Coverband Competition

Thursday, August 13, 2015 — The Amber Room Run from the Sun 5K
[Where: the Amber Room, 1 Stacey Road, Danbury, CT 06811]

amber room 5kBring your friends and coworkers to run or walk a challenging 5K then kick back and enjoy the party!  Race Course is a Certified 5K.   Course runs from the Amber Room to Candlewood Lake and back.  Passes scenic water views, stately homes, and lake communities. Proceeds to benefit Ann’s Place.

One of Connecticut’s Best Post Race Parties After the race unwind and enjoy a post race outdoor barbeque, ice cold beverages, live music and an awards ceremony!   Technical running shirts to the first 300 entrants. Cotton shirts to all other preregistered runners.  Awards Given to top 3 finishers in the following age groups (M & F): 12 and under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+  For registration information, please visit the event’s website by clicking here.
