Move For Hunger in The Hudson Valley
For those of us with an abundance of food, it’s easy to not realize that many of our neighbors are suffering from hunger nearby. Those in need of good meals are families, youth, single persons, and older adults. But with the Move For Hunger program, when you move with Clancy your surplus non-perishable food donations can help end hunger right in the Hudson Valley.
How Move For Hunger Works
As you may be aware, many people throw out a lot of household “stuff” when they move. Unfortunately, a lot of this “stuff” is food that could be delivered to a family in need rather than thrown away. That’s where we come in …
Our movers will pick up your unwanted, non-perishable food items when you are moving and deliver it to local food banks.
By teaming up with relocation companies across the country, Move For Hunger is creating one of the nation’s largest year-round service programs. Together we have delivered over 6,029,990 lbs. of food to food banks – enough to provide over 5,024,992 meals to those in need!
How can I donate food when I move?
Please let your Clancy move coordinator and/or movers know that you’d like to donate! Then, write in large letters on each your box(es) or bag(s) to donate with “MOVE FOR HUNGER” After your move is complete, Clancy movers will bring the non-perishable food back to our warehouse for consolidation with other donations then bring it to a local food bank. This is all done as quickly as possible but please, no expired food. Food banks have informed us that they are required to dispose of expired food.
Here are a few suggested non-perishable food ‘extras’ that would be greatly appreciated by our local food pantry:
- Cooking oil
- Cake Mixes
- Baby food
- Coffee and Tea
We thank you for your support to help end hunger in the Hudson Valley!
