Even More Sustainable Solar Powered Storage

Moving Forward with Sustainable Energy

— It’s been sounding like reindeer on the rooftop lately over at Clancy Relocation & Logistics Patterson, NY facility in Putnam County, NY.  With Christmas coming one might even joke that it’s Santa Claus here for storage access!  But those are not hooves being heard nor are they a jolly old man preparing for a flight around the world, it’s just workers installing solar panels just like the solar panels installed at Clancy’s Newtown, CT warehouse.

Over 977,000 kWh have been generated at the Clancy Newtown, CT facility.  That’s enough energy to replace well over 500 barrels of oil, about 29,000 gallons of gasoline, or power over 700,000 homes!

The success realized on Clancy’s Newtown CT warehouse rooftop is being repeated and improved on in Patterson NY.  In speaking with Bruce Perlowitz, Clancy’s VP of Finance, the Clancy Putnam County Patterson NY is a unique location in that it houses millions of books that require specialized, energy-hungry climate control.  The goal of the solar install in the works is to provide well over 50% of those energy demands.  The installation is going well and may be completed as early as the end of this year.  After completion, the solar cells would start collecting energy and be monitored.  Adjustments may go on for months as the complex system is “tweaked” to provide the most energy possible.  For a company to do such a project the timing has to be right where it’s economically feasible.  And right now there are enough incentives including those of the greater Hudson Valley where being a “green business” is more than a challenge, it’s an expectation.  Clancy Relocation & Logistics aims to exceed customer expectations in all aspects of business, which is why this is not the company’s first green project and won’t be the last.
